FESTIVAL OF LIGHT & SANTA EXPRESS UPDATE: 4TH OCTOBER We’re delighted to announce that tickets are once again on sale for both the Festival of Light and the Santa Express! http://bit.ly/2cJpMsR Our Festival of Light is always a magical and incredibly popular event, and although we would recommend booking online in advance to make sure you don’t miss out, there is still good availability so there’s no rush to purchase Festival of Light Day Tickets just yet. Some of our most popular Santa Express dates are already sold out on peak days but please check our website for full availability as there are still slots available so you can still meet Santa in his grotto. Remember that if you’re an Annual Pass Holder, Festival of Light entry is included with your pass. However, on some of our peak days you might want to reserve your space and guarantee entry to the park. This is a new service that we’ve introduced following on from feedback received about last year’s event, prebooking can be done at http://bit.ly/2cohL6a

As the nights draw in we invite you to find some red wool, knitting needles or crochet hook, and join us making poppies – lots of them! We need 11,000 hand-crafted poppies as a tribute to the 11,000 Devon men and women who lost their lives in the First World War. They’ll be put together to form a red carpet at next year’s Devon County Show. And if working with wool isn’t your thing, how about lace, felt, leather or metal - just not paper. Poppies should be delivered to: Ollie Allen, County Show Secretary, Westpoint, Clyst St Mary, Exeter EX5 1DJ or to BBC Radio Devon at Broadcasting House, Seymour Road, Plymouth PL3 5BD. For knitting and crochet patterns, please take a look at our website. http://www.devoncountyshow.co.uk/visitors/first-world-war-memorial-for-devon#.WAYsXuArKhf

Thank you for your enthusiasm for the poppy project! Questions are coming in about what size we're after - we’re want them to be the same size as the paper poppies produced by the Royal British Legion. If you follow the pattern on the website, the poppy will end up approximately 8-10cm wide. And if you're making the poppy in memory of a relation who died in the War, please add a tag with their name.
